The NDTV reply- Before & After!
While going through the NDTV reply to the Open Mag cover story I came across this discrepancy in the text:
“Once again,when she asked the magazine’s Editor why the basic tenets of journalism had not been followed in seeking my response before publishing these accusations, this is the reply I received.”
This clearly indicated that the text had infact been drafted by Ms.Dutt herself. And not by the person who has undersigned, i.e, Narayan Rao(NDTV CEO).
Within minutes of tweeting this to @BDUTT I realised they’d changed the text:

I wonder why a personal statement wouldn’t suffice for her? Does she actually feel her credibility has been dented so much that she needs the NDTV name to lend her credence? I dont know if you realise this Ms.Dutt but in case the alleged tapes are indeed true then you will have tarnished the reputation of one of the most respected media houses in our country. I guess you’re innocent until proven guilty but I do feel you have the moral obligation to all your loyal viewers from over the years to make a personal statement and not let the media house make a statement on your behalf.

You have done a wonderful job to keep these journos with bloated egos on their toes.
It is not beyond NDTV’s and Barkha’s journalistic ethics to take liberties with truth with such utter contempt for the wisdom of their viewers.
They are not comfortable with alert viewers like you and hence the disdain for what they contemptuously call “internet Hindus”.
I saw Barkha reading the statement in the 10 pm show in front of Subramaniam Swamy.. From the voices on the OPEN website, it is indeed shocking to see one of the most credible tv personalities indulging in such acts which are not only unethical but question the sanctity of a democratic nation. She isnt alone. Was shocked to hear Vir Sanghvi taking dictation from nira radia and also calling his friends in the congress to pass on info and get info for radia.
From the tapes out in the OPEN, it seems poor Maran did not do anything wrong and it was imaginative posturing by Radia to keep him out. After all in Marans tenure there was no scam in telecom ministry.. It was Maran who got Nokia’s and Ericssons to set up manufacturing base in India..Perhaps the man is already so rich with his Sun TV and Spicejet empire that he doesnt need to shortsell airwaves.
But kudos to Manu Joseph and his team for them to do what noone else in the media dared to do…
You are reading to much into that I said and she said thing.
She is an employee of @NDTV and note should go out from the head of NDTV. (As CEO, the employee concerned would be asked to prepare a draft with all the facts, CEO would check/correct and issue it). This is very normal.
These transcripts are total non issues and completely blown out of proportion. Instead of focusing on the means of gathering news/information, you need to focus on the result (did any of this compromise her stand or reporting on the scam, the answer is IMO a No)
Must say you have keen observation.Barkha does not know what hit her this should teach her a good lesson which she will not forget in a hurry

With all due respect Rahul, next time don’t inform the fools…as we being common citizen, we have limited reach to prove this to people….better spread their mistake to as many as we can reach out to !
